detroit 453 oil consumption

we got a 453 turbo that burns about 3 qts oil a day. its in a Clark 667 skidder. Some people we've talked to say this is normal but it seems a little excessive. Anybody run one ?

Combien d'heures ont fait le moteur torturé en haut jusqu'ici ?

Typiquement ils utilisent 1 à 3 litres d'huile de lubrifiant un jour selon le poids d'huile et tempture.

How many hours did the engine racked up so far ?

Typically they use 1 to 3 liter of lube oil a day depending on weight of oil and tempture

Merci,Marc

we don't know how many hours are on it. temp outside is below 0 to 30 above and engine temp never comes off cold on gauge. also if it isn't warmed up for at least 15-20 min it'll make a severe rap at rpm. oil dripps out of breather tube on left side of motor but not 3 qts worth.

Si vous avez l'huile 15W-40 s'attendent utiliser si beaucoup je n'entrerai pas à la partie 10W-30 à tout {trop mince d'huile de lubrifiant pour Detorits}

If you have 15W-40 oil expect to use that much I will not go in 10W-30 part at all { too thin of lube oil for Detorits }

Merci,Marc

SAE60 lasts the longest in a detriot I've used a ton. . .
Detriot are knowen to be oil consuming Leaking burn POSes. . .
You could walk threw a truck stop years ago n new who was running a 71 or 92 sieres Detroit by the large Oil puddle under the truck. . .
A detriot that always low on oil i would pay no mind to just fill it up with some SAE60 or cheapo 20w-50 and keep running it. . .
The DT that dosn't use oil is the one that would make me worried. . .

That seems to be the common answer. 20w 50 or 60 not to heavy for winter though?
