Anyone wanna talk procharger?

The idea is great right? Can't you just use a huge turbine wheel and have zero lag because it's belt driven?

Just wanna start a conversations all...

I'm putting a roots style blower backed up by a turbo on my Mercedes so I'll find out how responsive it is...

Shouldn't a procharger be much much better? It's got to be geared to spin higher RPM's but it's instant. Why isn't everyone doing this? I gotta be missing something, just interested in what it is...

Just my $.02 but superchargers take power to make power regardless of brand or design. Turbos on the other hand make power without taking any away from engine.

Thats true

You could though use it as a high pressure (small compressor) supercharger in a twin set-up then have a big turbo to make big boost. You would have instant boost in that situation with minimal power loss. Just my .02

That is not entirely true. Superchargers use power from the engine to spin the supercharger, but turbochargers are not "free" power. The turbocharger is an obstruction in the exhuast and it does take energy from the engine to spin the turbocharger. The difference is how much energy. Superchargers (generally) use much more power then turbochargers, but neither is a free lunch.
