Rain cap question

Is anyone else running rain cap(s) on their stack(s)? I like the old school rig look. I'm looking for an idea in stainless to weight the counter a bit more. It kind of keep the tapping down.

I have a GR 6" single and cap.

Thanks.

you can all ways just weld a small piece of metal to the counter weight side for more weight. Just a thought

Dave I have the big 6" cap. I'm just thinking ahead since it will be right behind me. A little insurance to keep it from rattling.

Harley I was thinking about welding a piece in the gap. I have tried welding to chrome before and it looks a lot like a bad exhaust on a scoot. I might still do it, though. It would be yet another character piece on Chum.

the rain cap i had on my truck had a hole in the counter balance for extra weight, which i put a bolt in. so you could get a stainless bolt or whatever if your has the hole in it.

I was just looking at that. It may be the best answer for now. I'm looking at really short socket head bolts.

We get this question alot as well. I really never have an answer for anyone, because I don't know what the right answer is. Maybe when you install the rain cap, do a little tech write up on it with some pictures of how it looks before, and after? Most calls I get is people not happy with the rain caps not opening up enough, or they close while they're truckin' at 70mph on the free way. I like the bolt idea as well...it seems to be the most logical, solution that doesn't involve welding of any sort.
