Need Opinions

I am kinda lost at what I want to do. And I am sure opinions will be biased. I don't know if a diesel truck would be reasonable for me, I don't tow anything, I don't own or run a commercial business. But I want a truck that I could use all year round, plus it's good to have handy when it snow's etc.

If I were to go with a Diesel Id look into the Powerstrokes. there's obviously pro's and con's to the 7.3L 6.0 and 6.4L haven't really heard anything on the 6.7L hasn't been released yet.

I could always go with a Cummins as well, 12v's are easy to work on. But then again, I like the 5.9 24v and the new 6.7L. Now I realize both trucks have it's pro's and con's speaking upon dodge and ford. Don't really like chevy's.

I just want an opinion, should I or should I not get a diesel truck! I mean I eventually want to get a trailer, I planned to get a cobra actually, but I kinda want a truck first, more useful, and the cobra would sit int he garage 90% of the time.

So I want opinion's from both dodge and ford owner's and just their generalized opinion, if I should just go with a gasser!

I don't post or sign on to this site much anymore, because I didn't really own anything that pretained to this site, it was really all just information lol.

So like I said I just really want an honest opinion on this. whether it be negative or positive. I know one's of the pro's is better gas miledge but nothing extremely great obviously.

my personal opinion in your situationis look for a good 7.3 they are realiable and the cost of ownership is lower i.e no emission crap to fail or pay to get rid of, no variable turbo to fail and the injectors seem to be more reliable in the 7.3 compared to the 6.0, the 6.4 is a damn good motor but they are flat out expensive. the 7.3 is pretty decent on fuel but is loud, that is the main reason i am converting to the common rail cummins

Loudness don't bother me, sounds like a can of marbles shaking lol. would you recommend, a OBS or a 99-03 Version, I don't plan to tow anything, so a F-250 would suit me best. I know oil changes will cost me around 70 buck's 15.99 for a 5 quart container of oil times that by 3 lol. maintance isn't alot is it? aside from oil changes? and they're are what 4-5K intervals?

I love diesel bc besides the motor everything else is easier to work on, way easier to pull the tranny or transfercase. The extra power is also nice. I love my 6.0L and my 6.4L. Easy to get a resanable amount of power out of eather, the 6.4L will make alot more with less though.

Thank's But do you guys think a diesel f-250 would be reasonable, even though I wouldn't be towing anything. I though more along the lines of a SC. Are 6.0's still pricey are should I stick to looking at a 7.3L

my 6.0l lives a easy life it does not toy or anything. and I opted for a 350 still. get alittle stronger parts for not much extra. as for price depends on the year your after. if you get a early 6.0l there close in price with a 7.3l. also one thing to consider if your going to mod the 6.0l has a better tranny from factory. if your looking at autos.

I was leaning more towards a stick, but Id settle for an auto. I noticed I could get an 6.0 between 14-18G if not slightly more. But I wouldn't mind the 7.3L I prefer a SC for either one.

i think that if you are not really going to work this truck and dont need the diesel engine then there is nothing wrong with the f150 but if you really want a diesel then i think you will be happy with a 2002 7.3L

Yea well I was talking to my friend, and he mention'ed since I won't be towing anything, and that diesel's like to run, it wouldn't be realistic and waste of money to get one. He said it wouldn't make sense to daily drive one.
