weight will be on tomarro!!!

Well guys cutting it last minute as usual, tomarro i will have my weight bracket and hitch done on my truck for the pull this weekend. I wanted something practival that didn't look like crap, so i went with a drawtit front mount hiden reciever hitch, off of that I am doing a piece of 2x2 sold stock, and will weld a piece of 6x6 tubing to it 20 inches long, i will be able to hold 10 JD suitcase weights so 1000lbs, say hello traction :} the thing i really like is 1 pin and it will only be adding 30lbs to the truck, doubt that will hurt my 1/4 times lol

Is the drawtite rated for 1k lbs of tongue weight? I've only seen them rated for 500lb. How does it mount and will the front of the frame take 1klbs. Move that weight 16"" of the front of the truck and it will actually weigh more at the reciever with leverage. The front of the frame is a crumple spot after all. keep in mind the heavier tongue weights for a rear hitch are based on how much weight is supported by the frame, this is also why the hitch goes so much farther into the truck wityh its mounting point. Also this is part of the reason every snow plow bracket has multiple mounting points on the front of the truck.

Not saying it wont work but make real sure that little hitch will take that load. you could end up using you 4x4 to get over the chunk of metal you drop instead of pulling that sled.

How much does your truck weigh? I am curios as to how much weight you'll be able to hang.:

Well i thought about that, but there rated to handel 500lbs all the time, not just once in a blue moon, also have you ever seen anything that isn't underrated?? my rear hitch is rated at 10k but what does a sled weigh? i think it is rated a 1k toung weight but i know what sled has to put over 5k of (toung weight), i do see where your coming from but i am not to overly worried about it.(and i am very anal about my truck just ask tadd lol)

They are "safe" weights.

Most things can handle 3X what they are rated for!
