What Hitch?

Guys, I'm going to be at the Kearney, NE pull this wknd and I want to know what kind of hitch I need to have.
Right now I have a standard reciever hitch with the reciever and ball in it.
I'm kinda worried about what I should take. Any help is appreciated.
:thanks:

Sweet, thanks for the photo. Can I pull with what I have or do I have to have a hitch like that?

You will need a clevis or something with a hole in it for the hook to go in....I have never pulled with a clevis though cause Ive seen too many break.....My hitch is lower than the 26" height limit that we have here. IMO...if you dont want to break anything and just want to have some fun thats fine. But if you want maximum traction you will need to find a way to get your hitch up high to get all the leverage you can....House has one of those adjustable height hitch recievers that he uses with a clevis and gets along fine. Im sure its heavy duty as hell though too.

So it's just a large hook? I can get a clevis.

Yeah...all the ones I have ever seen are a huge hook...If you get a heavy enough clevis you should be fine....When I made my hitch my buddy was the very first one to use it with his Dodge that was built to the hilt because his hitch wouldnt clear the height limit. I knew if it stayed together then, it would last for me.

Cool, thanks for the pics. Will the shaft of a 3" clevis fit through the hole where a trailer ball goes?

If you want a non-adjustable tough unit...you can't go wrong with this:

That is also a "solid" stock hitch so it wont break like hollow tube will.
