Pulling 60 Tons For Hours

in the great white north we pull sleds on snow and load them up at 10 tons a piece, so 6 sleighs behind a cats is 60 tons plus the weight of the sleighs. two d6 9u cats would left on a freight haul with 6 sleighs each and a caboose and weigh in at 193 tons traveling on ice. the poor cats would pull for hours or better yet days with these loads. but the best on is the LINN tractor pulling 100 ton payloads. that is why they were call the BIG BOYS, lOL

check out my website under cat train pictures by the men that were there.

Uh Oh, who let the KoO out of the redpowermagazine.com forums?

Don't worry, if you look around you should find a few dual stack on here.

Pulling sleds only run around 40,000#.

I suspect the reason you can't pull on dirt is because you don't want to dig through several feet of ice to reach it. : :roflmao: I kill me!

I still want to set up an official ice pull some winter down here. I'd like to see how these pulling trucks would do on ice with well-studded tires. And just for grins, I'd throw in a rubber class. Shoot, I'd even add an 1/8- or 1/4-mile drag race.

If two-wheelers can race on ice (with and without studs), I think we diesel 4-wheelers can, too.

i think you might have a good idea there, pulling on ice or a snow surface. that would be interesting because it is so different from dirt.
