Building track need info on dirt

We need to know what percent clay, sand, etc it takes to build a good pulling track?
This will be a permanent track just for pulling. We are in Florida and need to buy the correct material.
Thanks.

my excavating company built the one at our fairgrounds(bondville vermont) we used a clay material that we took out of a pond we were excavating it did not have a high sand content and we are told that this is one of the best tracks around for pulling,,, obviously your materials are going to be much diff because of the geographic distance but keep in mind you want a clay material that will pack hard but still be workable we happened to find the right mix, as far as breaking it down in to percentiles i cant tell you but start looking for a material that you can hold into your hand,, compress into a ball and have it stay without crumbling apart you will be on the right track if it just crumbles apart it has too much sand you want something with almost the consistency of playdoh but with just enough sand to keep it workable if youd like i could prob send u a small sample so you could compare pm me and ill give you my adress if youd like me to do that

We are going to get clay trucked in from across the state from a pit that supplies clay for the dirt tracks. Thanks for the help. Keep checking back we want to build a nice sled track to bring in the northern crowd during your off season. During the winter its like 70 on a cold day. The first pull we hope for in December at Desoto Super Speedway in Bradenton. Also check www.southfloridatruckpulls.com

The date has been set for December 15th for the first pull on new track. Anyone interested in a Florida trip to come pull with us? The $payout$ should be . We are still working on that, want it good for the first pull here. Looking to have a big crowd. Not all the info is up yet as of 10/8/07 so keep checking back as we get it all posted.

A real good trackshould be mostly as much as possible, caly. Clay hooks the best.

1996 Gmc k2500 4x4 6.5 turbo diesel, with mods Blew the head gasket, put all new heads, valves, injecotrs gaskets etc on the truck only to get it together and find out it had no oil pressure, and sounded horrible (pry a spun bearing). SOLD

Kinda chiming in late on this but see if you can get ahold of Dan Christianti in Floyd Knobs, IN. He owns a company, Track Builders Inc.) that builds tracks and he pulls tractors(Gotta Go Deere). I'm sure he'd put ya on the right track. I'll try to get his contact info this week.
