Auto or Manual?

Hey I'm new to the sled pulling scene and would like to get into it. Just a general question, which transmission have you felt better works while pulling a sled?

A Chevy to start with : .

IMO a manual is way better but I'm sure some like auto's better. It's way cheaper to make a manual hold the kind of power that it takes to pull a sled.

my pockets really arent that deep, plus if they were equal in performance in pulling i would take a manual, and im a way bigger fan of a manual on the street

Put in #'s you can make a 6spd Duramax hold 1000RWHP for $3500 or so with the new SBC triple disc : ,with an Ally it will take you somewhere between $6,000-$10,000.
I can't give you exact prices on Ford parts though.
With my 6spd I put it in 4th gear 4lo and let it rip all the way down the track.
