Suspension mods to help in pulling...?

What types of modifications have you all done or seen that improve getting the sled farther down the track? i am getting pretty decent at drag racing, and love to do that....i havent gotten "hooked" on pulling yet. however i also havent done extremely great either...never can get much traction either.

I was thinking about putting either a 1" or so block in the rear or installing an addleaf for some extra height in the rear...thought it would look cool too and maybe help in pulling...
also adding a set of traction bars
and when actually pulling put some blocks in the rear so it wont squat really bad...

does it matter/make a differnece if the traction bars are mounted to where the leafspring is mounted (like pointacross has, pic in general ford forum under traction bars) or just tabs welded on the rear end..?

anything else short of lockers and more power adders?

Do the traction bars. Make you a set of axle stops to keep the truck squating so you dont loose hitch heigth. I made my axle stops asjustable so i could move them from 0 to 1 1/2'' travel if any body got in a fuss over them. IMO Instead of doing the blocks make you a adjustable hitch so you can get as close to 26'' as you can

i would think to make your traction bars longer. put the lift from the bars farther up the frame. and as dlopp said, make sure your hitch is built to be as close to 26" as possible.

i agree use an adjustable hitch try to make ur rear suspension as rigid as possible hang weights on the frint if possible i would go about 48 inches on the length of the traction bars and design is up to u u will have to pull the propane system off ur truck for must pulling groups like the dhra

umm...the traction bars i got are plently long....77" im not planning on making it a puller truck....just would like to know a few simple things to try! thanks for the input guys!
......so basically i had the right idea in the OP, with the bars, blocks, etc. just need to get my hitch height higher! what about adding some height in the rear too with an addleaf or block...?

My :2cents I wouldn't. I would make some bolt on axle stops to keep the truck from squating, that you could take off when your not pulling and build the hitch to be able to reach 26''. That way you dont have to live with the extra springs on there all the time.

In that case i'll run the sled again AND i'll let you use my hitch!
