4th gear 4lo is what I use in my D-Max 6spd. If you have 4.10's you might try 5th. I hope you have a dual disc or triple disc clutch?

Edit: after reading your sig,I'm guessing you have plenty of power to run 5th.

4lo and 1st is a crawl you at least need a lil speed. My buddy has the same truck as you and he pulls 4lo and 4th it luggs a lil when he first lets off the clutch but catches up.

If you have a good double disc iron (feramic) I would try at least 4th low. Take the slack out of the chain, hold it at the governor and start slipping it out. I usually slip mine out until about 50 feet then let it out.

You probanly pull in 5th like John don't ya?

On topic we with D-Max's are leaving the line at 3500rpm+. John leaves the line at 4800rpm with his D-Max

Right  . Start at whatever the most RPM you feel comfortable. I'd recommend at least 2500rpm. Slip your clutch a bit till you get moving good, then let it rip

With your set up I would choose a gear that tops out at 25-30 mph.

'04.5 Chevy 2500HD LLY,Alli, CC, SB, 4x4, Sleeved, Braced, FASS, 4" SS Silverline exh, EGR Blocker, all thanks to MA, EFI Live tuning by me with Edge CTS switching DSP5 tunes, 68mm Danville turbo, ARP Studs with "C" gaskets, Transgo Jr., 20x9 Diamo Karat 8's wrapped in Terra Grapplers, Superlift AAL in rear, Ride Rite Air Bags, some stainless........yeah it shines.
