IH truck for SS pulliing?

I have been thinking about building a street stock puller truck, and was wondering if the rules allowed repowered trucks, or if it had to be a factory option. I am thinking about repowering a crew cab IH with a 466 IH engine, but it would not have been a factory option, and I am also wondering what I would have to run for a transmition to handle the power.
thanks

most of the rules I have seen alow for trucks to be repowerd but It has to be with an engine that was factory available in a 1 ton or smaller truck.
they may led you pull in some open classes at brush pulls though.

what kind of international pickup are you working on? I cant say that I have seen many of them with a crewcab.

IH pickup

I believe that it is a half or 3/4 ton crew cab short bed, it needs some work on the body. he has had it about 5-7 years sitting outside a shed, and I have been driving past it feeding cows over our christmas break from college. I didn't know how the rules were writen for street stock, there were a few pickups that had a IH diesel out of a 706, wasen't a 466 though. I was just looking to build something unique, not everyone would have an IH sled truck.

I see you are part of the show-me-smokers, woud they allow it to pull? I live up by chillicothe.

I looked through there rules and the way it reads to me in the work stock class it says the engine must be stock apearing. (but I think I have been told somewhere along the line that diesel conversions would be allowed as long as the engine and its fuel system came out of a 1 ton or smaller truck, but it can be moddified) as for the bigger classses all they say is the block had to be available in a 1 ton or smaller truck.
I kind of had forgotten that IH did put a few diesels in there pickups but I have never seen one to know anything about them. I work at an IH truck dealor so If I get time in the next week or two I might see if I can do a little research and figure out what they were.
If this something you plan on persueing the best thing to do would be top get on the smokers web site and post up a question about what you are thuinking about doing. there has been some talk about rules changes so now would be the time to bring it up if it isn't legal now we may be able to change something to make it leagal so long as everyone is OK with it.
