Cold Side Intercooler Pie...HELP

I got everything in and routed with one problem. The original boot from the IC to the pipe won't go on the IC pipe. The bead on the inside and the bung on the pipe fit but there isn't enough boot to use the stock clamp band. It just slides off...down the pipe.

I thought about cutting a metal ring to let the boot slide down the pipe farther hoping that would help but I'm not sure.

Anybody?

I can order new boots if that is the answer but I have to have the truck running by sat...would like to have it running tomorrow.

I can message my cell if anyone has advice.

Jeremy

Can you loosen the clamp on the intercooler side and fudge the boot over a little?

No

the metal tension rings around the middle prevent the boot from sliding farther down the pipe. They are smaller than the pipe.

Alright I talked to Shawn at Rudy's and he says in order to get the OEM boot to fit properly you need to remove one tension band from the OEM boot. This will allow the boot to slide over the pipe and allow the clamp to actually work.

He says the Cold Side Intercooler pipe was designed for the aftermarket striaght boots.

So monday when Rudy's opens I'll be ordering a new set, but until then the modification above will have to work.

Hope this helps others...

After having this same issue myself, I took one ring off and it worked fine. But to anyone else that is upgrading the intercooler line. Just get the dieselsite boots before you upgrade. Its 10 times easier to get the pipe in.

So what's the advantage of this pipe? I only have an AFE intake and didn't know if this would be of some benefit. I have SERIOUS turbo lag!

It all depends on which pipe you use. The one we sell works perfectly with the stock boots which are holding 60 psi no problem.

You don't need to remove it. Simply slide the ring on the pipe side over the bulge in the hose to the ring closest to the intercooler. This leaves two rings on the intercooler side of the bulge incase you want to return to the stock pipe.

I noticed 100* drop in EGT. I also noticed a bit of a old school V8 sound like when you flipped the breather lid up side down on a 4 bbl carb - Whaaaa. Other than that, I didn't experiance anything else.

In fact, I took it off.
