My Build Thread

Okay guys well I figured I would start one off. My build isn't as thorough as some other members but hey I'm a college student and I'm doin as much as I can! My main reason for posting this is to get a little advice on the last few parts I have coming in.

I'll start off with what I have so far:
  • Elite Studs
  • New gaskets/washers/fuel lines needed
  • Elite EGR delete w/ wastegate
  • cfm+ intake elbow
  • AirDog II

Other things that are going to be in the mail:
  • Elite modded HPFP
  • Ported rails

So my questions are:

1. Is the wastegate supposed to come with install instructions? Didn't get any with mine and I decided against the electronic controller as it's really more than I need/can afford.

2. I have $800 extra (sold my tickets to tomorrow's VT vs Boise State game - couldn't miss class) and am not sure what to do with it. I'd like to try to do as much cab off stuff as possible now b/c it'll probably be another 2 summers of working before it comes back off for a better fuel system/turbos/injectors but when looking I really don't see anything that I can do by itself for around that range and leave enough to pay for the added labor. Pushrods? Or should I just go with a BOV?

3. Lastly, will I be happy with the elite pump or is it a waste?

Thanks for your help and I'll try to keep the thread updated with pics and such as I get them. Truck should start comin apart tomorrow!

Forgot to add - Current mods are:
  • S&B
  • Banks 4" single exhaust
  • Spartan 310
  • RCD CAC pipe
  • 4" Downpipe
  • Snow MPG/Max methanol kit

The trans is coming as soon as I can find a buyer for a 65 mustang coupe I have. So far I've only found about 10 people who just want to waste my time...

i think you have got the right direction, only things I would do is upgarade the valvetrain and the high pressure relief from elite. Is the HPFP the 85% over? one more ? What controls dump on the waste gate ?

I think Im gonna use the extra money to do the pressure relief kit as that's all i'll be able to afford at this point. The HPFP is somewhere around 30% over I think, they take your factory pump and mod it. And I didn't buy the electronic controller so the wastegate will just be mechanically controlled.

i would run the pump if I could afford it, but i'm in college and am really stretching my bank account as it is.

Not really sure what trans i'm gonna go with. leaning towards elite right now.

Startin to look like my truck now. haha. Im doing pretty much the same thing as you. I would recommend giving 97singlecab a call. Hes got lines going from the HPFP to the rails that are bigger and stronger. Pretty much a 1/4 of the cost for elites. No relief in them though. Was going to do the HPFP but decided against it because it may hurt reliability. Its still in the air though. I ported everything I could on mine and am making my own fuel system. I would also suggest doing a CCV reroute and put it into your exhaust. That way it maintains vaccum and you wont get any more oil residue in your IC pipes.
When did you order your stuff from elite? I still havent gotten my stuff and its been over 2 weeks.

most of it I ordered early July. I'm waiting on the pressure relief kit and rails. I'm getting the hpfp from a member on PSN. It took a few weeks but mainly because of a miscommunication between premier and elite. Does the relief kit come with fuel lines?

aaron said he was also looking into a relief kit set-up being made locally also so we'll see.
