Fuel Mileage after H&S Black Maxx Exhaust and Intake.

Well i am not happy with the fuel milage that i am getting with my stock 6.4l lariat with stock suspension and tires. I put the H&S black max with the trans lock at 60 mph and driving it on the wild setting 150horse setting. I have the S&B intake and 5" from downpipe back Flo Pro with nothing but air between exhaust tip to turbo. So why is my gas mileage the same as when i had the 100lb rocket (DPF) under my truck. So far the only benefit is the smile it puts on my face when i accelerate. I was really hoping for an increase in mileage since i had heard people talk about that being a big positive for putting 2K into stuff that i really didn't need.

Any thoughts as to what you are getting with your black maxx setup or mpg gains?

Run three tanks through the new setup and hand calculate the mileage from those driven and the gallons consumed.

That will yield the best result.

It will take far longer to notice the effect on the lie o meter, unless you reset it and start over.

Again the three tank method is the best, its even in your owners manual.

Never use the lie-o-meter after tuning, only hand calculations.

Most reports of increased fuel economy center around the use of the Spartan 250HP and up tunes. That has been my experience, also but only 1 to 2 mpgs, not 4 to 5 or better that some folks claim.

I don't think you are going to see any mileage increases with the H & S unless they offer higher horsepower tunes and you keep your foot out of it.

wait til KEM comes out with H&S compatible tunes(should be nov. 1st), He will be able to create you a custom tune and get you what you want...I'd go with a custom 275 for mileage and reliability. Still you will only see 1-2mpg gains, but better than nothing.

KEM performance, they are making custom tunes to sell correct. Doesn't H&S make custom tunes for free or did I make that up?

Looks pretty steep what they are charging for tunes at least for the 345hp Phalanx. $300 big ones. all for 1-2 mpg gains ahh i don't know about that.

thank you all for the info. I will definately have to se what they offer NOV 1st.

I have an 09 F250 cc with 3.73 gears and 21,000 miles. I installed a H&S Mini Max and run the 275 hot tune with the 45 mph converter lock up tune. I average 16-17 mpg, mostly city driving. The biggest plus (not counting the huge power) is no more fuel in the oil. I had my oil analized at each change (5K). Every oil change had 2.5% fuel in the oil. Ford said its fine but would not commit to a number that was too high. After tuning (@15,000 miles) I have 0% fuel in the oil.
