Axle Wrap Video

Well I recently wanted to know how bad my axle wrap was on my truck so I strapped my HD pocket cam to the running board and made this video. Sorry it is kinda long but I think it shows that on stock suspension with the 250 hp H&S tune that the axle wrap is not bad. I am not saying that I could not benifit from traction blocks or bars but guys with stock suspensions may be able to rest easier. Im kind of a worry wart so check out the video and let me know what you think.

Oh yeah the exhaust, well i did this the same day my tail pipe fell off in the road because the clamps that FLO Pro gave me suck and loosened up after a couple hundred miles of driving. CLUNK!!

I bought the u bolt style of bolts and called flo pro up. they knew they had an issue and were willing to give me 50 off a downpipe...

I would like to see a video like that with my GN hay trailer loaded up @ 30,000#s . Then pull a hill were at the top your in 1st gear with the hammer to the floor.

I had on 05 dodge 3500 single wheel that would axle warp real bad with a load (big load of hay) in 2nd-4th gear (6speed)

we put some home made traction bars on it and it rode a little rougher with a load but the whole truck didn't shake any more pulling hills.

I have know the symptom as "axle warp"

It is when the axle twists (rotates a few degrees), as torque is applied to the ground (going forward) the front of the (pinion) axle will rotate up, then the spring get so loaded with torque they rotate the front of the axle back down.

This will cause the truck to shake when pulling a trailer up hills in low gears.
Also when you burn out or get stuck and the truck starts to hop, that is the axle twisting back and fourth.

The best example is if you got to truck pulls and you see these guy running lift kits with out ladder/traction bars, the truck starts to hop and they break a U-joint.

The next time you are at a stop light next to an 18 wheeler, pay attention as the truck accelerates away. As the driver goes threw the gear you will notice the rear end of the truck lifts (very noticeable with air ride) a few inches. You will see the trailer rise up a few inches from the truck tires, as power is applied, the trailer comes back down between gears.

every dodge cummins pickup I have ran would axle warp when pulling loads of hay up the hill to my farm. I had a 460 gasser that did it one day, turned out a bunch leafs were broke on both sides.

We pull a 41' 5th wheel at 22,000k with our 2010 F350. Axle wrap was there and even worse with air bags....until adding fixed tractions bars from Oneupoffroad. No wrap and no noticable ride change from stock with low/no air in the bags. Great combination! Trucks hooks hard when launched empty too.
