Wastegate and blow off valve are they needed

I have a H&S black maxx and 5" exhaust/ S&B intake and when under hard accel I can push up to 51 lbs of boost. I am seriously thinking about getting elite diesel's precision turbo external wastegate as well as a blow off valve from Rudy's Diesel performance. Anyone have this setup or using a wastegate or blow off valve. I am just trying to keep my foot in the throttle and not blow the head gaskets or worse.

Wastegate will relieve back pressure, BOV will relieve compressor surge on the turbos. The wastegate is worth it, but I don't think the BOV is worth it. I would do one with the Elite tow power turbos just because they are modified stock turbos, but I don't think it's needed on a bone stock set of turbos.

I don't think back pressure with just a tune is going to cause any damage. Eric from Innovative Diesel ran his race truck down the track numerous times spraying nitrous on a big tune, and never had any issues without a wastegate. I am not saying to go out and do this, but these motors can handle a good bit. I see 57 max actual back pressure with our 310 tune, so I can't imagine that H&S's big tune would be much different.

i see 51 psi max with H&S 225 tune. H&S had me put my boost defuel on at 45 psi. I just wanted to play safely or safer. So sounds like a wastegate should be in my future then. Thanks. any other suggestions?
