Thumbs up FTE Resonator Installed

Okay, so I finally got my FTE resonator (30" pipe) installed. I will start out by saying that I love it. It really changed the exhaust not a lot at both part throttle and WOT. I would say that the exhaust has a lot more of a whistle noise at part throttle. I am guessing it's due to the corkscrew design of the resonator. At WOT, the grunt is still there....it's just dampened a lot. I had a lot of drone beforehand with the straight pipe, and it is virtually gone. Unlike the Donaldson muffler I tried, I kept the good WOT sound and at the same time lost the drone. With the Donaldson it was loss of drone and noise all together. All in all I am very happy with it and it will be staying on my truck.

The only downside I see to it is that it did not get rid of the hairdryer sound at idle. It dampened the exhaust note to the point that it is not as pronounced, but the exhaust still has the hairdryer sound to it. I truly don't know if there is a way to completely get rid of it on the stock turbo's. Like I said before, I am extremely happy with it and would recommend it to anyone looking to get rid of that part throttle rush of air sound.

The heat from the exhaust made this video a little weird, but the noise is really all that matters.

Don't know where Jeff bought the resonator but here is a link:

Jeff, thanks for takling the time to record the sounds and post them. Even though I'm still stuck on dial up I was able to upload and listen to them. This ought to help those that just get tired of the drone on a road trip.

I think your hair dryer sound at idle is a lot quieter, at least compared to mine. Mine is SO loud at idle.

It's a 5" in diameter pipe that's 30" in length.

No problem! It's always good to have alternatives out there.

Yea, it is a lot quieter than before. The rush of air at part throttle is virtually gone. It actually turned that sound in to a whistle type sound. I like it a lot.

Hey Jeff, do you think you could take a picture of the FTE res. when you get a chance? I'd love to see what it looks like and where you have it installed.

There is nothing to it. My exhaust still looks like a straight pipe. It doesn't look like a muffler.
