DownPipe Changing

I was thinking about changing my downpipe to the 4". How hard is this to do? I red you have to cut the stock one out therefore if i have to change my truck back to stock to go to dealer what would i do? Any advise or direction would be greatly appreciated. Also who makes the best downpipe fit and performance wise?

It's not hard to do. Just cut your stk pipe off up as far as u can, it's garbage afterwards. Remove the band clamp connecting it to the turbo and pull it down. Powerstroker67 2 piece ceramic coated pipe is probably your best fit and finish, That's what I went with. got it at rudy's diesel performance, Talk to gab he'll fix u up

You can remove it without cutting, not fun but possible

If I remember the standard down pipe is 4"OD, but is sleeved with 3.5" pipe for heat reasons. I have heard, but have not seen, that the 4" down pipe you purchase would look the same on the outside but would not have a 3.5 inch pipe inside of it. Anyone verify this?

correct, the stk pipe is double walled. i'm pretty sure all aftermarket ones r single wall 4".

They may not deny warranty for DP, but they may start poking around and looking harder for other custom work that had been done because of it.

The engine will spool up faster because it can breath easier. Once you see the inside of the factory pipe you will see what I mean. Looks like the inner pipe was installed with a crow bar.
