Tuned F450 experience?

Hi, I'm interested in those of you who have tuned (Spartan, SCT, etc.) your F450's, especially those who have the 4.88 axle. What have you noticed in terms of power and fuel mileage? If you would, please let me know which axle you have in your response. Responses from those of you with F350's that have 4.10 or 4.30 axles are much appreciated also! Thanks!

Your not going to get a lot of mileage out of a F450 with 4.88's. With my F350 and 4.10 I usually get between 13.5 and 14.4, but with winter blend fuel my miles drops down every year...... Generally the higher the hp tune the better economy you will see.

I agree. My f350 w/4.30's got around 11-12 mpg around town and mid 13's empty on trips stock. Running the Spartan 210 I'm still at 11-12 around town and can get a very low 14.xx empty on a trip.

These are heavy trucks and tuning for mileage alone just won't pay for itself. Just driving around (normal) you won't notice a huge difference but when you put your foot into it it gets a lot better. Hook up to a heavy trailer and life gets goods rolling down the highway. I have pulled 6 & 7% grades grossing 23k and held 65-70 mph.

I can't wait for the 210 tow tune to get out for the job 1's.

Thanks! I realize mileage is not going to be good, tuned or no. But I was wondering if when towing a 20k lb trailer, mileage might go from 8mpg to 9mpg or so. And also, how big of a power difference people notice even with the 4.88 axle. The 4.88 is so much more responsive over the 4.30 stock, wondering what it's like tuned.

I've towed just a little over 32,000 with the old 210 tune. No problem with towing the load at all. Economy is a different story. Going 60 I got 5.7. I know the first time I towed around 14,000 I got about 6 with the dpf on and after I loaded the 75 off tune I got 8.6 with pulling the same load.

4.30's, weighing 10k+ and Spartan 275 ran 14.3's and gets 13-14 on the hwy at 80. Haven't run the 1/4 with my 310 yet but would imagine breaking in the high 13's. I pull a 15k 5er in the summer and it gets 10-11 and don't even know it's back there.

Are you talking 32,000 gross or trailer weight? What axle ratio do you have?

With my 08 F450 and 4.30 axle I was getting 7.5mpg (yes, hand calculated ) going 65-70mph, gross weight 27500. This was through some pretty hilly terrain.

Trailer weight, plus the truck. It's a 4.10 rear-end.....

I have a 450 with 4.88 gears spartan tuned, running the 210 tune.

I drive 70 miles one way to work and 90% of it is freeway and can get 14 mpg in the winter, 15 in the summer. This is driving 70 to 75 on the freeway. I've been tuned since 32,000 miles and now have 92,000 and this is about average over this time.

Depending on what im towing depends on what tune I run. I usualy tow with the 150 up to about 26,000 lbs gcvwr and at this weight I can get about 9mpg. Anything heaver then that I go to the 75 tune. This is just what I feel comfortable with.

I would definatly recomend spartan and full delete.
