6.4 relieablilty

I'm intersted in tuning and putting exhaust on my new truck. I had a 6.0 with cai, sct custom tunes and 4 inch exhaust, loved the truck, but was scared of it. Now I've got a 08 that has 20k on it. I want to do a drop in filter, dpf/cat delete and a spartan. Now before I was so scared that anytime the hg's could go. Is there any reason to be scared to pump this truck up any? I don't drive it like a maniac all the time but I do like to run it some. The main trouble I see with these trucks are radiators, do they have any other troubles?

There has been a few EGR valves showing up as well. I been running spartan 275 for the past 70,000 km and all has been well so far. A few ppl have popped the hg's running the higher tunes.

Are you totally stock, other than the intake / DPF&DOC delete / Spartan tunes? I have the 275 (and 310) tune in my Dashdaq, I'm don't want to destroy anything. Someone advised me to run no more than the 250 tune stock, unless you're willing to start replacing components / rebuild motor. Let me know if you've ran the 275 tune without any other mods.

Of course, those are 70,000 Canadian kilometers, right?

Intended to be a joke, I grew up across a big lake from Canada.

I have HG issue and I don't run anything over the 210 FYI. Spartan is a good system but there has been some problems with the motors not sure that the tuning has caused it but all my problem was after I tuned mine. Not knocking Spartan because IMO I would not put anything else on the 6.4 but giving you my HONEST opinion.

275 is pushing it on a stock motor. but im not to worried about popping my hgs. if I do its just a good reason for more mods while im there.and yes I am all stock still just kitty and filter gone. im still running my stock air filter as well.

I'm really just interested in maybe the 150 tune, main thing I'm looking for is a little more power, no regens damn things are aggrevating, and some more fuel mileage. This truck isn't my "toy", I"ve got a mustang for that, but I would like to get a little more out of it like I had my 04 setup, if I wanted to play, I would just roll into the throttle and the tires were spinning, if I pulled a trailer,it had plenty of power and got excellent fuel mileage, this new one just needs a little more pep and some good sounding exhaust and I'll be happy.

The radiator problem will be worse if the truck is stock, my truck is on its 4th and the radiator that lasted the longest was the one that was on while the truck was with tuned.
If you just want a truck that has some serious *** but will be reliable my uneducated opinion is load up the 150 tune. My truck loves this tune. the truck is a beast and there are lots of people running this tune for over 100k miles with reliability. the 150 tune is the way ford should of released the truck if they were not limited by the EPA ect. The fuel mileage will pay for the parts itself in a year or two tops. I prefer the 150 over the 210 ,275 and stock anyday

I can't wait to do the tuner and exhaust, but my car is going in for a 10 point roll cage and a mini tub in a couple of weeks, so hopefully by summer I'll have the dough to tune this bad boy. I really miss driving without a tune, I feel like I'm just like everybody else again.

The 6.4 is a gloried 6.0 with a better fuel system...same old song...HG's, Egr coolers, flex pipe, early ones had injector probs....etc.

They seem to be hit or miss like the 6.0's.
