big tune negatives

I've been in the market for a 6.4ford/6.7 cummins for a while now. I'm actually leaning to the ford more because of the spartan tuner which may sound crazy. Is there any negatives to the high hp tunes/dpf,egr delete, i know the tranny is on borrowed time but seems to be holding up well. Are you guys having any other problems.I would def do head studs first as a precaution. I have no idea how many miles they say a stock 6.4 should go.I know the 7.3 is good for 400-500 the 5.9 cummins at leat that. I need a little help, I priced everything to make my 7.3 500hp and a newer truck is a better option for me, I'm trying to figure everything out I want to know what type of problems I may have when going with a high hp motor. Finally taking the plunge to make a bad#%^ truck.

tranny and HG studs are the big 2. But your already aware of that. If you do a EGR delete. I would HIGHLY recommend a BOV as well. These turbos build ridiculous boost and drive pressure. Welcome to the dark side BWAHAHAHAHA

Lets just say not quite stock.

I don't totally remember everything about the 7.3's but I think 400 and 500 HP has a massive price tag between them..

550 hp can be had at under 1500 bucks in these tho..I would also bet a tuned truck will go longer than a stock one. get rid of all that emmisions crap and run the 150 tune if you are worried about breaking something it's still better than Regens and EGRs

I've been on the fence with the 6.4 tuner, had a 6.0 tuned and got scared of it and traded it for my Job 3 08, can they detect the Spartan after it's been loaded? I had a buddy just yesterday with a 6.0 told that they can hook their scanner up and tell if and how many times the tune has changed. Are the dealers that advanced yet? Not trying to hyjack but this is just what I've been wondering. I hate the regens and miss the power, can they detect it?

Once put back to stock, the Spartan tuner cannot be detected through the ECM by any Ford diesel tech. There are other ways to potentially tell once the heads come off, but even that is unlikely.....unless my truck is just a freak lol

The dealer told this guy that when they hook up their computer to the truck it comes up with a code and if the tuner has been on there it comes up with zeros or something in front of the original ford code. So it doesn't leave any footprint, no way to dig around with a computer and find out if it's been overboosted or fueled? Also do you have to tap the pyro on the Spartan? It looks funny when you remove all that stuff and take it to the dealer with a capped off bung in the exhaust. Just wondering if they have some way of monitoring it on these new trucks

The Spartan tuner saves the paramters from before you tuned it

There is no need for a pyro or EGT probe with the Spartan tuner. It reads off of the factory sensor pre-turbo and does a pretty dang good job.
