afe exhaust

Does anyone have the afe exhaust system on their truck? Does the muffler make it sound any different than the truck straightpiped? Hows fit and finish? Tried searching, and also looked on youtube. Couldnt find anything.

I have it on my truck. I originally had it with a muffler....no louder than stock with the muffler. I am no straight piped. It was soooo quiet I couldn't take it. I like loud much better than quiet. I am somewhat pleased with the exhaust. I don't like the amount of surface rust the 409 SS has on it already, but its not bad quality.

That's the nature of T409 Stainless I'm afraid...T304 is what you want if you aren't looking for ANY rust no matter what the climate.

If you're not sold on AFE, take a look at this pipe w/ ceramic coating. I went with it and added a Magnaflow exhaust / muffler (MBRP will work too ). The ceramic finish on the pipe is awesome and the Magnaflow is T304. The muffler adds a deep tone in the cab. It doesn't completely get rid of the "hair dryer" sound outside, but I think it's less than a straight pipe.

I have the straight pipe version that Spartan sells. I love the deep tone inside the truck, but it has the hair dryer sound outside. Nice sound though once you put your right foot to the floor
