I clean them with a piece of green bright pad, and change the copper washer with the right thickness. Clean the bore and blow it out or vacuum it out. Everything has to be clean. I put a little Neverzise and oil mix on them when installing them.

Does it really matter what size the copper washer is? The reason i was asking because the 215hp injectors has a paper thick copper washer and the 180 injectors are alittle thicker

The thickness of the washers is how you set the protrusion of the tip threw the head.

Here is what i did, i got some new copper washer for the 180 injectors and took off the old washer from the 215's and putted the new washers on the 215's so the spray pattern and such is all the same because i didnt wanna put the thinner washer on it and maybe have the piston hitting the bottom of the injector

There are at least three different copper washers, it depends on the spray pattern and how far the tip goes into the head. The piston can not hit the nozzle, it is in the middle of the bore and the piston has a bowel in it. If the tip is to it high the spray pattern will not clear the fire deck. The minimum protrusion is.150 and the maximum is .171. You do have to measure it especially if the head has been machined. Just a thought!

Is 215 the injector and washer number or the thickness? Personally I would go with what Cummins wants. If you changed the injectors, and have the old washers, and the head is on, then call Cummins and ask them. If the protrusion is wrong it will not work properly.

I was told to run the thinnest washers in the kit with my 370's.......That way the tip would be closer to the bowl and would give an effect like a slight timing bump.
