Dually an f250?

Need help again guy's. My 88' f250 rear axle has long wheel studs and a really long hub. Looks like I could easily convert to a dual axle. And I need to to accomodate an oversized welding bed I am mounting on the truck. (If for no other reason than the looks)

My worry is the frame width. The bed came off a newer model ford and the frame mounts are narrower than my 250's frame. I appreciate ya'lls input. So far I've gotten some very helpful input from this site. And I thank ya'll!!!

First off I think you will find the axle is not wide, the inner duals will be in the frame.
I think you best bet would be to find a dually axle in a wrecking yard.

Cab and chassis trucks have narrower frame rails and usually different wheel bases so it will probably take some work to make the bed fit on your truck.

Bed probably came off a 1 ton cab chassis which as mentioned is more in line with the standard 34" frame width. Your axle might work with duals on that width frame. If standard pickup frame you will either need the wide axle like is under a dually with standard bed plus fenders or you will need spacers for your axle. Google dually converion. Lots of folks selling spacers. You can rob front I-beams from junk yard F 350 to get matching front hubs, swap out just the hubs, or add the factory style spacers to your hubs. Not much difference between 3/4 and 1 ton other than spring rate. I converted an extended cab 86 f250 to a dually many years ago by purchasing the factory fenders for rear, added spacers to rear axle and swapped out front I-beams. Looked factory other than f250 badges.

Try arrowcraft dot com. That is who I got my rear spacers and wheels from. They also have the front factory style hub spacers. May be cheaper folks out there. I'm sure you can google, ebay and amazon your way to lots of prices.
