Cummins, caps, replacement

I have three cummins engines 8,3 L with CAPS system, does anybody know if there is any way to install a conventional injection pump and injectors in thees engines, the CAPS does not work with the poor quality fuel available in south america. Thaks Richard

yup, swap out front cover and time case and head with a tier 2 compliant (pre 02) 8.3 6CT

your cam and crank gear are the same and all your accessory drives will bolt back into place. just bolt together and go.

if you are having issues with CAPS with bunker fuel oil than its not the actual CAPS..... may want to look into a centrifugal fuel oil purifier and or a multi pass filter system..........

http://www.separationequipment.com/marinepurifiers.htm

this is what you need, when i was in the USCG we has alot of issues with the BOSH VP-44 and p-7100 pumps in the small boats, the only solution was actualy going to a FASS system and only running fuel that had been through the LOP system.... it solved all the issues.
