Tier IV Cat pics

Some pictures of Tier IV Cat engines for your viewing. Taken at a farm equipment show in Colusa, CA. First 2 are of a C18 and the 3rd is a C7.
A lot of powered farm equipment is or needs to be redesigned so the can physically fit the Tier IV engines under the hood or in chassis. All of the DPF and associated plumbing is adding a lot to the physical size of engine. That goes for any brand of diesel.

It always amazes me that the group that passed these laws to mandate the pollution controls on all these engines never seems to want to take responsibility for the mess. it was passed in 2004, the same party had both the house senate and president.

Also seen the same placement of dpf's on John Deere and Yamar engines. I guess one reason for placement is its as close to exhaust as possible for maximum heat. Also they can count on more billable hours of labor just to pull the valve cover off before any work could be done on the top end.
