Tier IV $$ vs Tier 0
Last week put new irrigation pump engine in. John Deere 4045 old and new, 80 hp.
The Tier 0 orginally cost $4500 and the new Tier IV cost $31,000+
Both are radiator to bell housing complete, only have to hook up fuel lines and good to go.
Only reason changed it is to get some of my tax $ back
. Calif will pay you (Carl Moyer Program) to replace dirty diesel engines with clean burning or electric, based on a competitive grant on how many fewer tons of pollution the new engine will put out. Old engine was still running with 18,000+ hrs but the grant application can take up to a year and if something happened to engine and you needed an engine now, you were SOL.
The pictures shoe old vs. new with all the extra plumbing for dpf, egr, lots of wires etc........
Now got to punch hole in block so its unusable or sell it out of state so someone else can pollute, just not in CA
Remember not to talk bad about farmers with your mouth full!
