It's the end of life for an orchard. We are now having 110 acres of almond orchards being removed so we can start all over with a new planting. With the drought we are experiencing in CA. we removed 75 acres this last spring because did jot have enough water to support it this year.

I will post a few pictures of the process as it goes on.
Right now a excavator is digging out the trees and a loader is piling up the trees for the grinder that will be coming in a few days.

Remember not to talk bad about farmers with your mouth full!

The grinder moved in today. Operator said it's 1,300 Hp. I believe it's a cat 3412 but didn't have a chance to confirm it yet.

The operator was not quite truthful. It is 1125 hp according to the Morebark web site. Still a lot of power to chip up trees!

Sorry about losing an orchard, its hard choice sometimes. You should go with Cacti, you don`t have to water them very often. Say Agave, then you could brew up some Mescal lol

Smoke!!! Smoke!!!! Are you Smoking yet?

Made near my hometown. Born in the wrong family. Sad to see trees cleared like that. They cleared an apple orchard near me probably 60-80 acres of apple trees. Just corn and beans now. What is the typical life of an almond tree?

Hope you get some rain. We are topped off that's for sure.

Yeah we are waiting for the south and west to start proposing pipelines for water from The Great Lakes. No offense but those of us here won't support that and it would get very heated (no pun intended). Hollyweird needs to stop filling their pools.
