Any JD Mechanics here?

I have a JD 2020 that I use around my place to move snow, haul dirt/rock etc when needed.

Lately I have been having trouble with the hand throttle. I can throttle the rpm's up to where I want them...but after a bit the hand throttle returns back to idle. When moving snow...this gets to be tough trying to operate the brakes, foot throttle, and bucket controls all at the same time.

I am sure that there are friction plates on the hand throttle that are used...but for the life of me I can't a) see them and b) can't figure out HITH to even get behind the gauge panel to find them.

Can anybody throw me some hints or suggestions on how to fix this.

Thanks

From looking at JDParts, you should have those washers as well. P/N R39985. It is also one of the p/n I see for the 4020 throttle linkage. Will depend on your s/n as well. They show 3 different setups. The washers weren't used on one of them. May depend on the engine, too. Gas or diesel.

It is possible, you may just need to tighten up the springs on the bolts that hold those washers. Replace the springs or clean out the oil on those parts.

Is this a website...or would you be able to scan in those pages for me that you are looking at. I would greatly appreciate it.

Go to JDParts.com and sign up. It's free.

After you get to where you type in the model number, do an alphabetical search. It is under "S" for speed control. Under "T" for throttle linkage just gets you parts for the foot throttle.

Thanks for the info.

Now...if it ever warms up...I can go out to the shed and figure out how to get behind the gauge cluster.
