any info on a allis 7040

i found a allis chalmers 7040 kind of in the bushes today when i was pickin up the truck i just bought.i wana ask the guy if he'll sell that to. just trying to find out if its a good tractor or not or if they have any problems

They were pretty good tractors for as old as they are... We farm with all allis and we used to have a 7040 powershift. Never had a lick of trouble out of it. Just make sure it hasent been abused and do you happen to know what kind of tranny it has in it?I'm trying to think of a weak spot on them but there isnt really an big ones.

Is it an older maroon belly or a newer black belly?

I haven't run a 7040. Just the 7060's and the 8070 that my uncle has had over the years. They're good cheap power.

thanks for the replys, i dont know what tranny is in it but i can find out.suposedly it has a few problems but if i can get it cheap i might buy it.i know my father ran a 7045 and it would spin the tires on the wheels
