New Electric drive Cat

A guy I run dozers with was telling me cat had a new low track D7 coming out, so I looked it up. It turns out the engine will power electric motors just like in the mine trucks. Its kind of an ugly thing though.

This is the wave of the future. Locomotives are powered this way. I believe once it's perfected, owners will prefer their equipment is powered this way. It completely eliminates the transmission, allows full power to each wheel end and reduces the amount of engine power & fuel needed.

Thats what we were wondering, they would have to be sealed somehow. That would look bad if you had a wrecker pulling that thing out of some water.
