I've always built my own but it depends on your skill level. You need to know what you want to put in your truck so you'll know how big of a box you need. If you don't want nothing to big then it should be pretty simple, but if you want something pretty big then your box could be pretty complex to get enough air space.

If it's a sealed box... Very easy! Just do the math on the airspace, even funny shapes are okay
If ported, there is a lot of complexity in properly designing it, that even depends on the sub in order to sound the best. The size and depth of the ports "tune" the box so to speak.

I have always built my own boxes. Anyone with basic woodworking skills can do it. Use MDF, NOT PLYWOOD! Ply will delaminate over time.
