Need Stereo Help

One thing I have never gotten into is upgrading audio systems. So I need some insight. I would like to get a little better quality out of my 06 Ford crewcab. I am not going to spend a bunch of money on this stuff (would rather buy mods)

My plan is to just upgrade the speakers and keep the stock head unit. What are some good replacements? Should I run them with an amp and line out convertor for the stock unit? I have heard this works pretty well.

Thanks for any input and remember I don't want to go all out just upgrade a little.

Boy your asking a trick ? aren`t you! HAHA! You can get lots of answers on speaker choises, I have kicker speakers , they are okay. I`m going to upgrade to some new polk RS model speakers they are alot x 10 better. Most afftermarket speakers take more power to sound good. So to do it you will need an amp. I would go with some good speakers and get a 5 channel amp and put one 8" or 10" sub in and you will be pretty happy!

Your welcome!! You could go here and http://www.crutchfield.com/app/produ...al_nav*target1 and check out alot of equipment and speakers. They also have a good learning center thet will explain alot of tech stuff so you can weed through all the equipment and speakers. They also have a what fits you car/ truck area. If you find a brand of speakers or any other type of equipment you then could go right to that brands web site and fine tune your choises ! Good luck!!

I know you don't want to spend much but beware, the factory head unit really isn't a great way to go. They're ok, but you'll get much better sound from an aftermarket. Also using speaker level output from the factory head unit into an amp can cause unwanted noise in your system. (not always, but higher chance than with rca's)
Depending on what you're looking for out of your system you may get better sound from a decent set of speakers run from an aftermarket deck than you would from the factory deck running through an amp and the cost would be similar.
I ran my stock system for quite awhile with a 6.5" self powered bazooka. It sounded good and gave a little more thump than stock. I've since upgraded the entire system to Fosgate subs and amps (old school), zapco co-axles and a clarion head unit.
Also, most of this stuff is made in china now and you really pay for better quality (USA).
