Stereo Recommendations Needed

Ok boys and girls....I GOTTA get rid of the factory stereo in the Dodge......I wanna go with a in-dash cd player and new speakers.

Dont really need anything real Ipod hookups, satellite radio, no fancy crap....just a decent in-dash unit.

Whats a good, fairly decent priced unit....and speakers?

what is the style of the factory player? Is it a big one, or is it the size of a normal replacement one? What I have in my 94 is a Pioneer from Walmart ($100), Pioneer 6.5's in the front and 6x8's in the rear. I like the setup, it was cheap and it gets the job done. The only thing is the rears shake a lot, but everything else on the truck does so it doesn't really matter.

ALPINE is not user friendly by any means, i just recently purchased a indash GPS from PIONEER. i had it about 4 days and could work any function it has (9 different things) without any problem. i highly recommend PIONEER!

Pioneer is good stuff usually.

I'm an Infinity speakers fan and usually find my stereo equipment at Crutchfield. Their tech support is top notch.

Now, that being said, start with a local shop and see how their prices compare and what they will do for you on install.

I just put a Clarion in my rig and it's awesome. More bells and whistle than what you're looking for, but they have lots of models to choose from.
I've had Pioneers and JVC's in the past and they have been very good too.
I used to install Clarions and it was rare to ever have one come back with a problem.

I had a Pioneer in my old truck (which didnt see much if any off road use) and it was simple enough for me to be happy. In my truck I have now (which sees a bit of off road use) I have a Kenwood, upon recommendation from a friend who runs them in his on and off road vehicles.

That all said, I dont have experience with clarion or alpine, so I cannot say anything bad or good about them.

94 Ram 2500 4x4 RCLB.
Power: BHAF, 4" exhaust, S300G, 15.5*, 100 plate, 90 hp sticks, 191 dvs, Mike L. trans. more when i remember.
Appearance: 1 pc headlights, HIDs, 4.5" lift, flippy mirrors (up), not so chrome 6" silverline exhaust tip, not so fancy aftermarket wheels
