Audio upgrades done!!!

I got them done about the beginning of Feburary, but haven't taken the time to share what I did.

For the headunit, I installed a Pioneer HD5000U, and I added the Sirius Sattilite Radio, Bluetooth phone connection and iPod integration. I love the control it gives me, and my entire iTunes library is at my fingertips; I also love the audio control it gives me. I had no idea what I could change audio wise until I started playing with this headunit.

For component/door speakers, I installed Memphis Audio 6.5's in the front and 5x7's in the rear. They are a big improvement over the stock speakers, and worth every penny. They're much clearer and sound better all the way around. With the audio control the headunit has, they sound good no matter where you have the volume knob!!!

If I were to buy another new to me truck tomorrow, this is about the first thing I would do to it. It's just so much nicer to drive around and have clear music, and the ability to talk on the phone if I need to safely.

Total cost on the job was about $575.00 plus tax. The headunit was $200.00 plus tax, the Sirius converter box was $79.00 plus tax and the Bluetooth was $129.00 plus tax. The Memphis speakers were $89.00 a set. I got the install done for nearly free, so it's all got a warranty on the install, plus the equipment warranty.

Thanks to all who gave advice on the matter, I really appreciate it!!

Congrats on the new system. I LOVE Memphis speakers... I have two 12" subs sitting in my basement that won't fit in my F-250... They'll hopefully be going in the boat soon though....

Yes, I'm really happy with my Memphis speakers. The sound shop that did it for me had some JL Audio speakers that were already out of the box that fit, so I used them for a couple of weeks, and then went to Memphis. The JL's I tried were $169.00 a set, where the Memphis were $89.00 a set, and I say that the Memphis speakers sound better than the JL Audio's, especially with a sub that's coming down the road sooner or later...

What kind of sub are you going to run? Can you even fit a sub under the back seat of an OBS?

Planning on running Memphis shallow mount 10's. With a custom box, it's possible to get 2 shallow mount 10's under there and still have proper air space, but it takes some work...

I just put put the Pioneer HD5000U in mine three weeks ago. Love the head-unit. I threw the sirius in as well and bluetooth is in route, should have it in a few days. That IPBUS that they have is an installers dream.

I was looking at the mephis speakers, with the reviews I am hearing they sound like the ticket.

Question for all installers out there. Has anyone dropped the fuse panel on thier truck yet to shunt a new fuse location for a cleaner install of accessories? I hate tapping or worse tapping right into a fuse and I would hate to run more wires back from the batt... It would be nice to be able to tap right into an existing empty fuse slot.

Haven't looked at it yet didn't know if anyone else has.

What are you wanting to power exactly?

And Matt, I haven't heard their shallow subs, but I'm sure with the right box and enough power it'll be awesome.
