If you can stand having it in the middle of the roof that is the best location. Wilson makes a durn good product, try and stay away from the magnetic mounts. If you mount it anywhere else be sure to get a "top-loaded" antenna, with minimal power this is your best way to get out. Whatever you decide make sure you have someone tune it with an swr meter. Most cb shops will do this for a minimal fee, or if there is a ham radio group in your local area they might do it for even less.

Hope this helps.

I like my firesticks. I doubt that they are the best, but on my old truck, with my uniden and 3' fire, I have carried out a converstaion with one of my buddies at about 8 miles out, and my antenna was not tuned. And for the price.... I don't think i would be happy with anything else.

What’s the disadvantage of a magnetic mount?

I have not had any luck running a magnetic antenna. I have ran different fiberglass ones. Wilson is good. This last time I got a K40 Trucker antenna I have had it bout a year or so.
