Cheap CB

I have one of those cheap Cobras, I have it wired to come on with my ignition. How can I if possible make the CB go straight to a certain channel instead of going to channel 1 when the truck starts?

You need to wire it so you can turn it ON/OFF at all times with the ignition on. I have always done mine by running the HOT wire into the in cab fuse box and using one of those 2 pronged thin connectors which fit in the small fuse slots, and put it to the cigarette lighter or 'power point' whichever is the "ignition on hot" one in the truck. Wire the ground to any "ground source" or screw/bolt under the dash. That will let you turn your CB on and off as you please (with the ignition on, of course) and I don't see any reason why it would not stay on a preset channel. Let me know if that works for you, or if you need more information. I can get pictures of my set up if you need them.

My truck wants to be a semi when it grows up...

The one I have now is wired into the ing. But I have had them in the past wired directly to the battery. Mine always stays on the channel I left it on. Most all that I have seen stays on the same channel.

The cheap POS Cobra 18 and 19 radios in the black plastic case won't stay on your chosen channel, if you cut power to the radio with the ignition, period. Sorry. Most go straight to channel 9. Not 19. I hate those models for other reasons, too. Won't be buying another. The model 29 is the ONLY Cobra I'll buy. But, I prefer my Magnums, so I won't be buying a Cobra again anytime soon. Although their 200 puts out.

A 29 with a noise canceling power mic and Wilson or K40 antenna hits pretty good, for stock power out of the box. Good working and pretty reasonable all around rig.
