wheels ! tires ! gears !

Setting up the 95 K2500 for heavy towing...

Trying to decide what tire size n gear ratio to use !

245/70R19.5s with 4.56 gears ?

Or

265/70R19.5s with 4.88 gears ?

So basicly speaking it would be:
33s n 4.56s ?
Or
35s n 4.88s ?

Both tire sizes come in Hankook DH01 14ply load range G.

So i would be going from:
Summer 235/85R16E Winter 7.50-16D tires n 4.10 gears to either:

a 245/70R19.5G tire n 4.56 gears ? 33" x 9.50"
or
a 265/70R19.5G tire n 4.88 gears ? 35" x 10.50"

so they'll be a some what tall but skinny tire but being a 14ply load range G they should be stiff enough not to wonder around ?

I'm not trying to be a douche about that. I used this the other day to figure out what meat to throw under Chum with 4.10s.

Tire calculator. I put a 19 and 20 in there and averaged it to get your actual size.

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos

How is it set-up now? What do you think needs to change?

I like the idea of 245/70-19.5 in G. Those are 33" tall.

with your power plant n 4.10's the 245's would the ideal tire, Load range G will ensure long tread life and great handling under load. . .

find tread design you like, i personally am a fan of the Mudder's I'd rather have a lil howl then tow truck bill. . .

I'm also trying to keep the Cummins in it's band. 37x12.50x16.5 or 18 is what I will go with. 37s with 4.10s and a 0.71:1 OD puts me right where the Cummins likes to run on the highway. Finding tires I can afford is a whole other story. They aren't selling the Goodyear MTRs we use on Up-Armored HMMWV yet.

Where did you find prices on 19.5s? I never even considered those. Chum getting a lift, and the D60 I picked up is going to wait a while now.

I need to keep the Cummins, much like my Duramax at or below 2000 on the highway. I run everything for 72 MPH as an average. It's a pain. Both trucks idle around 700-800 and don't run much above 2000 without killing dinosaurs in herds.

I did a quick search and 19.5 stuff is pretty high. I don't need above load range E personally.

Destroked doesn;t have an Allison 6 speed set-up yet so the 6 speed valve assembly will be coming out and swapped for a 5 until the 6 is finished. The OD for now 0.071 but will eventually be 0.61:1 with the 6 speed valving. The lift I want is also 8" and looks funny with anything smaller than 37" tires.
