235/85R16E to 265/75R16E's. . .

The season is starting to whined down so i ain't going to have time enough to Regear to 4.56's and switch over to 245/70R19.5's . . .

My truck calls for a 7.50-16D tire size or an 235/85R16E as the alternate tire size.

Would it be ok to run a 265/75R16E tire ?

indeed. the 265's are a tad bit shorter, and an inch wider. 235's are a 32x9.5, and the 265 is a 32x10.5, but they run about 31 to 31.5 inches depending on the brand. I run the 265's on my F-350 and they look a lot better than the stock tires.

So basically I would gain a slight bit of flotation, but more or less my speedo would be within spec and i wouldn't lose pulling power ? but maybe gain about 1/2 inches worth of pulling power not enough to notice i'm sure ?

Now to find a good price on some 265/75R16E MT's or Swampers . . .any idea's ?

I am running 5 rib hiways, the difference in the tomato patch is easy to notice and the GPS is about 2 1/2 mph - same as the 235's and a good bit better than the 245's it was riding when I bought it. Nobody else drives it so it is not worth the time to tweek the clockspring in the speedo.

I'm going from the 235/85R16 a 32"x 9" tire to a 265/75R16 which is a 31.8" x 10.6" tires ... the .20" inch difference shouldn't matter should it ? is the extra 1.6" wider to be of some concern ?

Like I said the 5 ribs are very close to 1 inch across the tread. with the wheels full jounce and full turn they clean the mud off the liner, back off about 5 in at the steering wheel rim and mud thrown on stays.

I have an 84 GMC C3500 that wears the 235's on the front now with lots of clearance, one of these days I will see if they will clear on a back wheel, Right now it is singled up on 12.5x33's on the back

I love these loud howling aggressive tire's but there always a special order deal, So i was hopping with the 265/75R16E would be more of a tire folks would have in stock . . .

I refer to the 235/85R16 tire size as this most folks can relate to. I grew up around the old stuff so i understand the standard sized tires.

7.50-16 = 32.2" 235/85R16 = 32" 265/75R16 = 31.8" these are the most common advertised diameters for the 3 sizes. . .

I just figured going from a tall skinny 8 ply Biasply Traction tire to a shorter wider 10 ply Radial Mud Terrain tire would improve handling ? & tread wear ?

This is my truck on the factory size 7.50-16D tires:

I have even mixed the sizes on the front of the Dodge and it still goes where you point it, you can't see .2 in on the dia but going into the tomato patch - the skinnies feel like they are sinking. The 245's you can see they are smaller and they don't feel like they are sinking. 245's are by far the most common.
