I have a 17" LCD tv with dvd in the truck, Will a digital tv tuner that you use for the home get good reception while driving around?

lcd tv should be digital itself if it is not then yes you need the tuner. What channels you will get who knows.Depends on the local broadcasters.I know there is still analog channels here being broadcast on the lower power companies.

I thought there was a website you can go to and punch in a zip code to get the channel #'s and such.I'll try and find it.

this one http://www.titantv.com/

I know there is another one but I'll keep looking. The link above should help for the most part

Let me word this another way, Everybody I know has either cable or a dish, I need to know if the new digital broadcasting comes in clear while driving around or is it like the old system where the signals would fade in and out?

your problem will be the antenna...DTV can be picked up <over the air>.

the ability to "pick up" a DTV signal is directly related to the distance
that you are from the stations transmitting antenna and the SIZE of the
antenna connected to your TV.

Just like the old Analog TV signal DTV signals are some what DIRECTIONAL...you
STILL have to AIM your TVs antenna TOWARD the stations transmitter.

because of this "aiming" issue, over the air DTV isnt any more practical for use in
a car or truck thats MOVING than the old Analog was.

the best solution for "MOVING" vehicles is to use an ACTIVE tracking
digital satellite solution...consider yourself warned...this stuff aint cheap !

Thanks, I didn't know how the dtv worked, now I do. I have a 5th wheel and know that the satalite set up is pricey. I'll just have to keep using the dvd.

while moving I would agree sticking with the DVD. But a satellite system for when you are camping would be perfect. You just have to re-aim when you park.

Life changes, so roll with it, not against it.

its not necessarily any cheaper, BUT...have you considered VuCube ?

the VuCube is PORTABLE...so you could potentially "use it" in your truck
when youre driving and then move it or connect it to your camper once
youre "parked".

they have a couple of different options in motion tracking, manual & remote
controlled tracking.

the VuCube has become VERY popular among the RV/Camping/Tailgate crowd.
