valve stems

Alright, I've been having a lot of problems with the valve stems on my wheels lately, left me on the side of 81 for 3 hours thursday night. What is the absolute best and most reliable valve stem I can buy?

What are happening to your valve stems? I think it may be a different problem then just getting shotty stems. I dunno about brand but have you tried the metal valve stems?

nah I haven't had metal stems yet but thats what im going to next. I'm just trying to figure out if one is better than another?

They keep dry rotting and cracking causing my tires to go flat, and I can't just get it fixed anywhere since i have 24" rims.

the November issue of Petersen's 4wheel and Off Road had an article of defective Valve stems on pg 19. Something about 30 million defective CHINESE stems were installed in US tires from Sep 06 to Mid 2007.

yea I might have gotten all 30 million of them. .

But yea I jsut want the best of the best so I don't have to worry about it anymore. Is there any specific type or brand of metal valve stem that people prefer?

I like the short metal stems. Schrader invented the core design and still make excellent stems.

If you have cast rims use rubber lube or wax to keep the corrosion from eating through along the aluminum. They will leak 5-10# a week after a couple of years until the corrosion is cleaned out.

Most quality parts houses sell BRASS/copper stems in various lengths. They use a rubber seal on the inside and outside with a NUT to hold everything togather. We used them on our busses and never failed one, they will bend before they break!
