Excursion 6.0 Oasis Report Interpretation

Hey guys. New to this great forum. I'm looking at a 03 Excursion with the 6.0. I got the guys on the oasis board to run a report and I am posting it in this message. I need help with what you more knowledgeable guys think about it. Odd that there is no records but 2008 and 2009. I know the 6.0 had problems. I don't want to buy something that stays in the shop. Thank you.

All the listed repairs are nothing out of the ordinary for an 03'. Basically had the, inferred ebp sensor computer flash / a couple of injectors / egr valve / y-pipe / egr cooler and oil cooler. As long as there are no signs of coolant puking out the radiator cap/reservoir and there are no current codes and the transm is shifting good, its probably not too bad of a truck. The main most common and expensive repair is head gaskets, which will usually show up as puking out the radiator cap. Good luck.

I just did a quick test drive. Seemed to shift fine. I didn't check the radiator cap. Thank you very much.

Take a look all around the overflow bottle...look at the hood insulation...to see if you see any white dried powder. If so...it burped coolant in the past.

I bought an 04 Excursion. I know its pricey...but once I got studs, new head gaskets, removed the EGR and replaced the stock oil cooler...this thing just runs awesome.

As said before these are normal issues for the 6.0l. I wouldn't get to worried about it. Just take care of it, change oil and all filters at the recommended interval and then if you don't want to change the HGs, don't modify it. That's when the 6.0l gets real picky. Some ahve issues and some don't. But if you have a chance to get a diesel Excursion, don't pass it up, you will love the BIG X!!!
