ALL 8 Injectors have circuit high 2006 F350

I just bought a 2006 F350 Deisel ( Only had it 2 days) and it ran rough on cold start up till it got warm. Drove it home and it ran great on the highway.

Read some forum posts and put some fuel injector cleaner in the fuel tank with a full tank of fuel. Ran the truck for a bit and every time I shut it down and restarted it it would be rough running till it warmed up.

Then it started to run real rough like it was not running on all cylinders.
CEL came on.

So I shut it down and hooked up a scanner.

ALL 8 Injectors have circuit high readings. Now it wont start. Cranks but no start.

Checked voltage at FICM and I have 47.5 volts with key on and at crank .

I find it hard to beleive all 8 injectors fail at the same time.

Is it possible I have a faulty FICM even though the voltage is reading correctly?

yes, it is frequent that a FICM can fail on the logic side with perfectly fine voltage on the power side.

How

How do I test for that then before buying a FICM as an FICM is not cheap.

Send the FICM to FICMrepair.com. They can test it and make the necessary repairs. Buying a new new power supply board, or even a new FICM, does not get you any more reliable than the original part. The repairs that are done by FICMrepair.com will improve the reliability of the unit.

The other way is to find someone with a good FICM that they are willing to let you try. I have heard of people putting a hair dryer on the FICM before attempting to start, and by warming it up it sometimes helps. NOt sure of the success rate on that though.

Lastly - having a fuel pressure gauge is very important. If your fuel pump is getting weak and not putting out the proper pressure, then that can cause injector issues.

I assume that you are using OEM fuel filters (both the primary and secondary) and you are changing them regularly?

Had my FICM done by Ed at ficmrepair.com highly recommend. Once you resolve that change your oil and get some Archoil 9100 it will solve the rough start at cold as long as the injectors are not gone. Fuel additive doesn't fix injector stiction in a 6.0. Archoil in the oil does.

Get a scangauge II also unless you already have a way to monitor all of the vitals like FICM, ICP, etc.

Early 2004 F-250 4x4 CC 6.0

BAD FICM

FICM was bad replaced it truck fired right up.
Still had a very rough idle when cold and blue smoke with NO power.
Ford scanned it and told me I needed 4 injectors replaced

So I thought I would try the cheap route, I changed the oil used 5w40 T6 Synthetic also added 2 x 4oz of RevX poured it directly into the opening in the oil filter cannister by removing the spring loaded center. I also added 1 quart Hot shot secret diesel eliminator to a full tank of fuel.

Well I am not a big beliver in additives but I am here to tell you this RevX and Hot shot secret is the bomb. Noticed a difference after 50km and even more so after 250km. Truck fires right up NO smoking NO loss of power and my mileage shown on dash has gone from 4.3km per liter UP to 5.3km per liter.

Truck is 95% better then it was and I am sure after more driving it will be 100%.

Dont repalce injectors USE RevX and or Hot Shot secret first.... WORKED FOR ME.

FICM and injector stiction seem to go hand in hand on these trucks. Glad you got it running well again.

Rev-X, Hot Shots, Archoil AR9100 along with a thinner grade oil like 5w40 or 10w30 in most cases can provide the needed relief to get the injector spool valves moving properly again if varnish and minimal wear are present in the spool valve area. Sometimes though, the spool valve bore is too worn, or the injector fuel area pintle nozzle is worn and hammered from low fuel pressure, or internal injector orings are cracked allowing loss of hi-pressure oil, or injector cups are worn.

If your running a stock fuel system, highly recommend installing the blue spring fuel pressure regulator upgrade kit...example here(http://www.xtremediesel.com/Ford-3C3...4DdxoCY8Hw_wcB). This will bump up your fuel pressure from the minimal allowed 45psi to the 65-75 psi range. Anything below 45psi allows the plunger to hammer the injector pintle-nozzles to death, which can lead to a cracked tip and a hydrolocked motor in some cases. I have seen worn a worn regulator spring provide only 25psi of fuel pressure, which over time will shorten the life of the injectors. No way to check fuel pressure unless you tap into the secondary fuel filter test port plug with a gauge, or install a sender and gauge setup like some of us have.
