Ok so I'm wondering which is better if you don't have any emission test to go through. And what brand is the best out there. This is my next step. Is there an egr delete that won't throw out a code and keep my check engine light on. Also why do they even cool the exhaust before going through the egr valve. Is the exhaust really running that hot. Just a new guy to the diesel world. Trying to get this rig running right and keep it that way. I make a lot of trips to do side work and I don't like to call a customer saying my truck broke down I need to reschedule.

Your 05' yr model will throw po400 type egr fault codes with a delete. It also won't run right with a delete unless the computer is remapped with custom tuning.

1. Upgrade to a BulletProof Diesel brand egr cooler and stay with stock tuning.

2. Do an egr delete and get custom tuning, need to purchase an SCT tuner and sign a waiver for race track only use if ordering custom tuning for any emission delete tune files.

3. Yes egr needs to be cooled, exhaust temps can reach 1100-1200 degrees with stock tuning.
