Using the Edge i get a DTC of "Cam position Sensor Performance" from time to time. Can someone explain this in more detail?

The 6.0L (VT365) has both a CAM and a CRANK position sensor.

The PCM evaluates the signals from BOTH, and compares them to what it expects the signal to be, and if one or the other signals are not correct, it will give a code.

The most common cause for a CMP or CKP code are wet connections at the sensor plugs. This is because the sensors are mounted in the lower side of the bock, and subject to getting wet from puddle spray, power washing, and submursion during Fjording of water.

The normal "fix" is to simply unplug the connector(s), dry out the contacts, apply a SMALL amount of dielectric grease to the connector terminals, then reassemble. Normally this will fix it.

It is *possible* on some very early engines that there may be an accumulation of debris (small metallic particles) on the end of the CMP/CKP sensors that affects the signal. Simply remove the sensor(s), clean the debris, and re-install.
