Black dots under clearcoat on my 06 6.0

I was waxing my 1 week old baby today and noticed black marks on the back fender at first thinking it was road tar! I tried to scrub it off and realized it is black paint dots under the clearcoat ! About 5 or 6 of them! issed:

Will FORD do anything in a situation like this?
I really dont want my new truck painted as most of the body shops where I live will just make it worse!

Oh man, the only thing that they could do is repaint it, and it would be better to live with it... If there is a chance that it is not under the clear, try clay majic...

Andy (toomuchboost) has a lot to do with paint and clear coatings... You may want to take a picture and send it to him...

I had a problem with the paint on a '98 dodge when it was new. They repainted the whole truck @ 30K miles except for the bed. They sent it to a class A painter. I realize this was Dodge, but you might want to check Ford out. After all it sounds like there mess up.

Thanks Fellas

I would say for sure it is FORDS fault I looked at it pretty good and you can actually see where the clearcoat raises and swirls around the black paint dots.

I love my new truck (will not have it painted) but I must say I am a little ticked
I just got a 42,000 truck I think it should be perfect!!!
there are also a few spots that the paint is funky like there is dirt or something in it and it comes to a point!

I ordered a 94 Dodge new when they first came out and the front of the bed was a goldish color(kinda feathered in)
Well the Dodge dealer took care of it for me and it looked great!

BUT think I would be asking for trouble to paint the bedside or the whole truck
as I said I really dont trust any of the body shops at one time or another I have had most of them do work for me or a friend and have never been happy!
They always mess something up!
Maybe I am just to fussy!!! :umno:

As stated the dealer will repaint it under warranty if you are willing to risk it and dealer paint shops very widely in quality.

There's a chance its been repainted before possibly at the dealer before delivery. See if you can find an electronic mil gauge and compare that bedside to the other and then a door. I *think* 4-4.5 mils is typical on the sides of one of these but all you have to do is compare your findings. If its been repainted it will show at least 2 more mils than the adjacent panels.

Another thing to consider...

Depending on where this damage is at, and how big it is... you may want to consider the following.

Live with it for now, then take your truck to a customer painter and have them buff/sand it out and paint on a cool graphic. You can take care of the damage and customize the look of your truck in one shot.

Just a thought.

Good luck.
Brian.

We ordered a Suburban, got it drove, and realized it had been in a wreck coming off the assembly line come to find out. they had repainted the front passenger side door and 1/4 panel. So something could have happened.

Hamp- Ok. Either way if its under the clear either get it repainted or live with it because it can't be buffed if its truly under the clear.

Once you break through the clearcoat you are SOL.

Sorry to hear this happened on a new ride.
