Cleaned my EGR valve

I was alittle board this morning so I did some preventive maintenance on my truck. I pulled the EGR valve and cleaned it. Check out the pictures of before and after. I noticed that I didn't have any moisture in down inside the cooler but the soot was oily right below the valve, is this due to the 2 stroke oil I run or is it normal to have this. Also how does the valve look after 43,000 miles, does it have a normal apperence or is this alot of soot compared to normal?

It really doesn't look too bad. Did you clean the intake manifold opening, the MAP sensor hose, and the EBP tube as well? These are components that can plug also.

No I didn't. This is the first time that I have done this so I didn't know what else needs to be cleaned. Where is the map sensor hose and the EBP tube?

I've not done it myself, but have read some on it. I will try to post the links I have been reading. Until I can find them, here is a TSB:

Coking (carbon) Deposits in Turbo and/or EGR Valve:
Coking deposits are usually a build up of unburned fuel or oil in the exhaust system and related components (valves, turbo, EGR valve). This can be caused by poor fuel quality, overfueling/leaking injectors, idling for excessive periods of time (especially in cold ambient temperatures), low engine operating temperatures, injection timing (calibration) or oil consumption. Unburned fuel usually appears as white smoke, but over time the coking condition can result in excessive black smoke. Coking deposits can plug the EBP sensor tube, foul the EBP sensor, cause the EGR valve to stick open, block the EGR cooler, plug the MAP (boost) sensor hose, or cause the variable turbo vanes to stick open (no power/boost) or closed (excessive backpressure, black smoke, popping noise, bucking). The cause of the coking issue should be identified before replacing parts to prevent reoccurance. If poor fuel is suspected, use Stanadyne Performance or Motorcraft PM-17-A Cetane Boost. TSB 06-4-12, 06-23-16.

Here is what I have found:

MAP - Manifold Absolute Pressure
The MAP port is on the intake manifold. The hose comes off of that port.

Great thanks. I will clean the MAP sensing tube and the EBP tube tomoorow and then probably clean this stuff about every 20K miles.
