If I were looking for a fun truck or a work truck I'd look 12v/24v but I'm looking for something to DD and so I want to stick in the CR era. What years do you mean by older?

What are your intentions with the truck? Are you going to keep it stock? Will you mod it? and then you said DD but will it also tow? If you can answer those questions I can give you the low down on a 6.7L

Won't tow much...probably once a year or so unless I get stationed somewhere I can get snowmachines. Won't mod it out but typical exhaust, tuner, gauges, all the deletes. Will see probably 35s and a little offroading. If it's a manual at some point a clutch. But generally a comfy, solid axle, DD with weekend fun outdoors.

The 08-current 6.7s are a little better than the 07.5s but most of that is just tuning. A 5.9 will yield a little better mpg but id stick to a 06-07 5.9 cr.

I should have made that more clear... You would be fine in either, they both have down falls, and it is my opinion that the 6.7L is a better tow rig. You get an exhaust brake and a 6sp auto with in my opinion is a much better trans than the 48re in stock form, now Im sure a full billet 48 would be awesome, I like my 68RFE. There are good point to both but what I should have said is that IF you choose a 5.9 look for an 06-07 as the Canbus tuning is a bit better than the earlier tuning ( not that this is a huge hill of beans) The aftermarket world is pretty good for both so really no need to get into that discussion until you have made you choice, unless you want to know more about each.

Thanks a lot. Going to have to keep my eyes open. Can the 68RFE take a little over stock power decently? Were not talking 600hp cause I don't want to go through the big $$$ being spent away for a truck that isn't used as the parts on it are intended for ordeal again.
