Update time and advice...

Still hauling campers and boats and misc trailers all over the damn country and loving every min of it.

Except for these little demons that are starting to show there azz every once in awhile.

1. Transfer case replacement
2. Crank shaft position sensor
3. Water Pump
4. ABS Sensor
5. Ac Condensor
6. Evaporator
7. Accumulator
8. Ac Compressor
9 Orfice tube and line since its fixed
10. Other misc NORMAL wear and tear that i have failed to mention.

This all has hasnt happened at once but not to far apart just part of being on the road. Now for the advice part...My truck does not run hot empty loaded or unloaded normally between 190-205 on the water temp. But for some damn reason it sucks fluid out of radiator and into overflow tank but it wont return in a reasonable timeline into radiator (meaning i go from Indiana to Cali up and down elevation and it has overflowed once on me also just seems like it should pump back faster so i dont have to worry so damn much. Now i have changed Tstat, Radiator cap and it still doing this i have shutdown for the night and got up and top off radiator and left cap off and start truck no bubbles or anything so that makes me feel a little better bout the issue being a hg issue. I also have no water in oil and i have had the coolant testing and no carbon found in it so wat gives???? If i have lost you im sorry if you all think im just worry to damn much buy me a beer toi ease my nerves but this truck pays for itself and puts the bread and butter on table if you know wat i mean

Brandon, i have been thinging about this, I think its time to do a complete cooling system flush. Also remember to bleed the system via the stand pipe for the egr cooler as it is the high point of the cooling system. If you do not get the air out at that point it will have air pockets. (i know your cooler is deleted but it is still the high point)

i tested my coolant for exhaust gasses and had no luck

are the rad hoses/coolant overflow tank staying pressurized overnight? thats a pretty good indicator of a blown HG...

it might not be a bad idea to have the cylinders pressure tested... but doing a HG job on your truck would be much easier than it was on mine....

If the coolant tank/radiator are stating pressurized overnight to me and wat im being told would not be a hg issue...? It means its not leaking down which would be a good thing cause there may not be a leak at all. So it started to come back down as i go in lower elevation so i think im safe there but i still wanna know bout this gurggling and bubbles blowing in my overflow tank it does it non stop???? Come on guys put your 2 cents in and give it to me not going to hurt my feelings

Soot,
Here's my $.02 or less. Check the overflow hose between radiator and tank, check for kinks, collapse or pin hole/crack. It could flow under pressure but upon cooling down and a vacuum trying to pull fluid back to radiator the hose could collapse or pull air thru a pin hole or crack. Sometimes its the simple things that can cause

also as I have said try bleeding air our via the stand pipe until coolant comes out air will go to the highest point of the cooling system.

Maybe the cummins and duramax are different this way but when I blew my HG's the coolant system was bubbling/gurgling, i was blowing coolant out the over flow and the coolant system stayed pressurized over night, and I dont mean a little pressure, I mean ALOT of pressure... the engine temp was changing wildly as well... from little temp to extremely high temps, duno if thats what your symptoms are but it kind of sounds that way...

Well you can try bleeding the air out of the coolant system, but If it continues to do it then I would say its the HG, I know how you feel... "it HAS to be something simple" I even changed my rad cap.... no such luck, when we pressure tested my cylinders in my Dmax we only found a very small leak in one cylinder, once we pulled the heads 4 of the fire rings on the HG had been blown...

At least with a cummins the head is in plain sight, my truck they heads are burried... took over 20hrs to rip it apart and fix it, Im so happy that I know mechanically inclined people, saved me about $3500
